Mi A2 and its younger brother -which is not twin-, the Mi A2 Lite, who come to pick up the witness of the success reaped by the Mi A1.
This Lite version comes with a few differences that can make it an interesting phone and not only cheaper than its reference. Recall that both phones are ‘inspired’ in the Xiaomi Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro that we saw for the Asian market.

Repeating what works
The Mi A2 Lite is not a terminal with great pretensions in terms of gross power, it renews with the Snapdragon 625 that we have seen so much during and perhaps too much time, also in the Mi A1. It is a Cortex A53 eight-core processor, low power and does so much already, at 2.0 GHz maximum frequency manufactured at 14nm.
There are two possibilities for the amount of memory, either with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory or up to 4 and 64GB, which we can always expand using microSD cards. One of the deficiencies that we are already used to with Xiaomi is the lack of NFC, so it will not be possible to use it as a payment method.
One of the great fortunes of this Mi A2 Lite is undoubtedly its battery, which rises generously up to 4,000 mAh, which virtually guarantees us a 24-hour autonomy, no matter how intense our day, bearing in mind that the screen is also It is reduced slightly. Xiaomi talks about two days of autonomy. Despite this great battery, the perforation of the 3.5mm headphone jack is not missing from its aluminum body.
While with the Mi A2 have decided to keep the thickness and weight of the terminal at bay, in this variant Lite the weight increases moderately, to 178 grams and 8.8 millimeters thick, to accommodate that larger battery.
Elongated screen and notch are your signature
The other big difference between the Mi A2 reference and this lite version is its screen, which in this case is more adapted (or less, according to opinions) to the terminal at least in its upper part, making use of that notch that allows to enter the front camera and the rest of sensors. In this way we can recognize without leaving room for doubt to one terminal of the other and at a glance.
As for the characteristics of the panel, it is a Full HD + resolution in 19: 9 elongated format, with dimensions of 5.84 inches in its diagonal. In line with what we are seeing in the rest of the most current reference terminals, so there are no unexpected surprises here.
Finally in its design we see that although the Mi A2 Lite has facial recognition technology, this does not rule out the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor on the back for a more conventional use to test low light situations and available in all the situations.
Double camera that stays
The Mi A2 Lite arrives with a configuration of double camera very similar to the reference phones Mi 8 and in whichever these may have been inspired, of course. They cut that yes the capabilities of this, because we see a couple similar to others not too promising seen in the ranges of entry of the brand as the Redmi S2 announced a few months ago.
Specifically we have two sensors, the main being 12 megapixels , with aperture f / 2.2 and pixel size of 1.25 micrometers, which features focus by phase detection or PDAF, faster than those by contrast. The secondary is only 5 megapixels and considerably smaller, with pixels of 1.12 microns, and is the one that allows the detection of depths in the scene for processing and blur effects. In addition, it has portrait mode also in the front camera.
Android One, clean, upgradeable and more secure
The great revolution of the Mi A family of Xiaomi was the final possibility of being in the global market with a Xiaomi phone that did not come preloaded with the aggressive personalization of the brand, MIUI. This means that we can get a competent and cheap phone (Xiaomi), without giving up the updates directly as presented by Google and with its certification.
This translates into a shorter time of update and arrival of security patches, even more so if we consider that with the version Android 8.1 Oreo with Project Treble, which provides a base for its update on which it is much easier to update the system operative for a longer time, because it is not necessary for the manufacturer to customize the operating system for your mobile. So it should not take too long to get your Android P ration.
