Dylan Minnette can not help but think about what is in store for Clay Jensen in the new season of 13 Reasons Why…
By the end of the controversial series’ second season, Clay had avoided a mass shooting; however, Dylan thinks he did it the wrong way and during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he shared some theories he has about the future of his character.
“I would be surprised if the story is not immediately taken back to where it was left in. I feel that the fashion of 13 Reasons Why is to start with a jump in time and we just put the pieces together of what happened in the middle, I do not know, I’m not confirming Nothing, but that’s where I feel it goes, I do not know what Clay does with that weapon, I do not know how he gets out of that mess When we were filming, I did not realize that the sirens would sound so close!”
Dylan even spoke again about Clay’s mental health and the importance of being treated as soon as possible: “I think it’s important to see him in therapy at some point or something… have someone to talk to and Clay to be able to face these problems that he has… I believe that his mental health is not completely recognized by himself or by any of the characters that still surround him, and that is exactly something that I would like to see exposed.
I feel that with the second season, Clay really carried Hannah’s weight, obviously, more than before, more than ever and now that that’s gone, I’m excited to see that Clay is a little wiser, a little more mature, given everything that has happened. Just seeing how she deals with this breakthrough in her life and without having, without taking Hannah’s guilt and weight anymore, and just seeing what new challenges await her, even if they’re not involving Hannah… I think if someone waits that Clay has an easy path in any season, we know we’re wrong.”
The actor also spoke of his unexpected friendship with Justin, and how he would like it to evolve: “One of the least expected things would be for Clay and Justin to become family and, in addition, I think Justin and Clay were saved in the second season.
Who would think that those two people would end up needing each other to, I do not know, not even live. So I’m excited to see them. I’m sure they will be roommates in the third season, that would be great.”
What do you think about these theories that Dylan has about Clay? We’ll have to wait until next year to find out what’s really wrong with Clay.
