Luka Modric, the captain of the Croatian football team, could end up imprisoned after the 2018 World Cup final. He is being investigated by the Justice for having allegedly offered false testimony in a corruption case.
The Croatian soccer player is accused of being an accomplice of the former president of the Croatian Football Federation in allegations of corruption. In this case, the athlete would have given an untrustworthy testimony under oath.
The athlete would have received, illegally, 50% of the transfer of his pass when he was transferred to Dinamo Zagreb to Tottenham of England, in a Zdravko Mamic operation.
The player made a testimony on June 13, 2017, but they differ from those he gave on August 30 in 2015. However, the player’s defense was that, in that year, he had not read the minutes clearly. “Deeply convinced of the plausibility of Luka Modric’s testimony before the Osijek court,” the Federation wrote, with respect to Modric.
