Google Podcasts arrives, “a new way to discover and listen to podcasts on Android devices”, according to the Internet giant. The platform seeks to connect people with programs around the world based on their listening habits.

The product manager of the application, Zack Reneau-Wedeen, told The Verge that there is still a lot of room to grow when it comes to listening to this type of format. “It could double the global audience of podcasts in general,” he said.

The main interface of Google Podcasts shows programs of the moment, comedy, culture and society, news and politics, sports and recreation, religion and spirituality… However, it is possible to search to find the most interesting for each person, in addition to subscribing to them.

Google says that there are more than 2 million podcasts on the service, ready to be heard and downloaded to carry on the road.

The transcriptions in the programs in real time – in several languages ​​- will be one of the next characteristics of the application.
