After several rumors that the actor Joaquin Phoenix would be who would give the new Joker, today it has been confirmed that this is totally true and that Warner Bros. who will support the project.
After the bad reception that the Joker of Jared Leto had among the audience, after the release of Suicide Squad, the company decided that it would be a good idea to have someone new who would give a little madness, eccentricity and maturity to the sinister and sarcastic clown.
This was how they began with auditions and among them came the name of Leonardo DiCaprio, who apparently was a strong candidate to become the protagonist of that plot, but apparently it was only an idea because the Joker already has a name and surname.
The new film, which will be directed by Todd Phillips and written by Scott Silver, will tell the origin of one of the villains and bitter enemies of Batman.
It is said that the story will be set in the 80’s and that instead of having a connection with the world of DC, it will be rather independent, since it will focus on the birth of the character, the psychology that he has, his extreme actions and how all this affects the society in which he lives.
To achieve the above, Warner Bros. gave a budget to the movie of 55 million dollars, and it seems that they will use them very soon, since it is planned that the recordings begin in September of this year in New York.
To have a good product and not one that feels rushed and without energy, it is said that the premiere of the film could be in 2019.
The official presentation of Phoenix as the Joker, will be held the following week at Comic Con San Diego, which will be held from July 19 to 22.
