After the cleaning that we have been seeing from genre series one can no longer take for granted the continuity of anything. But it turns out that from time to time there is some joy: ABC has renewed ‘Agents of SHIELD’ for a sixth season.
A season 6 that will be somewhat shorter, yes, since the order has been for about 13 episodes. Something that, by itself, does not mean anything about the continuity of a series, even more so when we find the flagship of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on television.
‘Agents of SHIELD’ is the typical series that works much better in the non-direct viewing than in its broadcast and this has always brought ABC, who has been wanting to do something with it for years, but Disney does not let him take the ax. The solution in the fifth season was to reduce the price of the license that the chain pays and this time they have pulled to cut to 13 the episodes.
The fifth season of ‘Agents of SHIELD’ ends in the US next Friday with an episode entitled ‘The End‘ and that will close the whole plot of a great story in which Coulson (Clark Gregg) and company work to prevent a world cataclysm. These last episodes take place, with a certain clear distance, in a parallel way (like the classic tie-in) to ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
The truth is that it would have been a shame that ‘Agents of SHIELD’ ended this season, which is one of the best that it has ever had. But he would have gone all out . Now we need to know (this afternoon we will know the data) if season 6 of the series we will see at the end of the year or already in 2019. What we can expect is Coulson in ‘Captain Marvel’ in November.
